Okay, it’s official, this is my new smoothie obsession- healthy chocolate smoothie! I’m a fan of using whole foods as often as possible- and that’s exactly what is featured in this chocolate smoothie. You won’t find chocolate protein powder or other processed ingredients in this one- you may even have all the ingredients to make it in your kitchen right now!
When it comes to making smoothies, there are a few components that will ensure it is nutritionally balanced. Make sure to include a protein source for satiety- this smoothie features two: plain Greek yogurt and natural peanut butter. I also suggest to avoid adding sugars- whether in the form of a sweetened yogurt or milk alternative, or with the addition of honey or maple syrup, etc. The sweetness in this smoothie comes from 1/2 of a frozen banana.
Lastly- if you can- sneak some veggies in there! This smoothie features frozen cauliflower and avocado, both of which contribute to its creaminess (and I promise, you can’t taste the cauliflower). This smoothie really does have it all: protein, fibre, healthy fats and carbohydrates (AND CHOCOLATE!).
This smoothie has even been requested numerous times by my husband- the guy who isn’t super fond of healthy things. It’s a winner, I tell you! I hope you give it a try!
